Slice is the name of our high school ministry at River Oaks. Our Mission (which is consistent throughout family ministries) is to produce mature young people living out a Christ-focused biblical worldview who, by the grace of God, are being transformed through the power of the Gospel. We attempt to fulfill this mission through three primary means: 1) The ministry of God’s Word (empowered by the Holy Spirit), 2) Participation in the larger church community, and 3) Involvement of parents in the ministry. It is our great privilege to work alongside parents to attempt to foster a love of Christ in these students’ lives and to lead them toward being faithful Christian disciples who make other disciples.
Here are some of Slice’s regular events:
Sunday School: Join us Sunday mornings at 9:00am in Room 214 for a time of prayer, Bible study, and accountability.
Prayer: Join us Wednesday nights from 6:00-6:30pm in the Fellowship Hall for a time of intercessory prayer on behalf of the church and our brothers and sisters in Youth Group.
Youth Group: Join us Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:30pm in the Fellowship Hall
for a time of prayer, in-depth Bible study, snacks, and fellowship.
Parent Nights: We know that parents are the primary shepherds of their children’s hearts, and we want to support you as you disciple your children; therefore, we invite parents to join us for youth group once a month so that parents and students can be communicating about what they’re learning from God’s Word. Parents, join us the 3rd Wednesday of every month!
Special Events: We have special events throughout the year to allow our students time to fellowship together, dig deep into God’s Word together, and serve together. Email Patrick Bowerman to find out what is currently happening and/or to be added to our mailing list!
