Also, the High School youth group was able to raise a total of $1619.50 for their mission trip (Praise The LORD!).  All of this money will go to cover the costs of their trip to Mars Hill, NC in June 2012.

 

The top three finishers in the Chili competition were as follows:

  1. Sacrificial [Lamb] Chili – Mia Brasseaux
  2. Mama V’s Warm and Sassy Chili – Virginia Stucky
  3. Tie:
    • Death in the Pot – Jackie Evans;
    • Fajita Fiesta – Eric Esmark

 The top three finishers in the Cornbread competition were as follows:

  1. Triplets’ Terrific Cornbread – Benjamin, Isabelle, and Savannah Hendrich
  2. Pumpkin Party – Eli Evans
  3. Chili Cheese Cornbread – Rosie Luecke

Thanks again for all of your support, and we look forward to gathering together again next year for the 2013 Chili Cookoff Carnival.

When:  Friday, April 13, – Sunday, April 15.  Early arrival will begin at 5:00pm on Friday, April 13, with dinner at 6:30pm.*Car-Poolers: meet at Mark Evans’ office (315 Lamar St, Maryville), beginning at 4:30pm on Friday, with the last cars leaving at 5:30pm on Friday. We’ll leave Eagle Rock by 10:00am on Sunday morning.

Where:  Eagle Rock Camp and Retreat Center in Maryville

Cost: The Retreat will include two nights, with 5 meals served. The cost is $90 per person for any or all of that time. There are scholarship funds available; there is a place on the  registration material to request assistance, or you can contact the church office.

About their group: We seek to know Christ deeper by studying His Word together and exhorting each other to obedience before God. We want to live life authentically in the power of the Holy Spirit and in our acceptance before God through Christ. We desire to grow a community of believers that love, serve, and encourage each other, bear each others burdens, and foster growth in our faith.

Monday Night’s Emphasis: The Holy Spirit and coming to the Lord in prayer

Monday Prayer Recap

We began last night by praying and recognizing our dependence on the Holy Spirit to lead us. We prayed into four areas:

  1. The power of the Holy Spirit,
  2. The ministry of the Holy Spirit,
  3. The gifts of the Holy Spirit, and
  4. How these things relate to us specifically at River Oaks.

Tuesday Night’s Emphasis: Walking out the Vision/Mission of God at ROCC.

We will be praying into our four key values which are:

  1. Loving God passionately,
  2. Loving others Biblically,
  3. Equipping others effectively, and
  4. Engaging the world practically, relationally, and globally.

Tuesday Prayer Recap

We began last night by praying into the 4 core values of the church. These are some of the things people sensed from the Lord:

  1. Loving God passionately: a picture of a veil being lifted for people was seen. This is encouraging in light of some of last night’s prayers about feasting on God, being filled with the Spirit, and being satisfied in God as we move forward.,
  2. Loving others biblically: strong sense of the importance of discipleship,
  3. Equipping other effectively: we will be praying more into this specifically tonight, (Wed) and
  4. Engaging the world practically: a sense that overall busyness often hinders this desire

Wednesday Night’s Emphasis: Discipleship-focused relationships

We will be praying into these four categories:

  1. Relationships as believers based on the Trinity (John 17:20-23),
  2. Unity as a body (Eph. 4:1-16, Romans 12:18),
  3. Small Groups (G.R.O.W.T.H.), and
  4. Christ-focused relationships (Col. 1:28, Eph. 4:11-16).

  1. Relationships as believers based on the Trinity: We prayed into the question, “If all relationships are ultimately grounded in the love of the Trinity (John 17:20-23) then how can we be more intentional in our relationships to love in a Christ-focused way?”,
  2. Unity as a body: We prayed about how we can be unified in our relationships as a church,
  3. Small Groups: We prayed into the G.R.O.W.T.H. initiative for small groups (Growth, Replication, Outreach, Wisdom, Togetherness, Holiness)
  4. Christ-focused relationships: We prayed into the question, “What is the nature of Christ-focused discipleship relationships?”

Thursday Night’s Emphasis: Missions

We will be praying into these five categories:

  1. That we would ALL increasingly view our sphere of influence through a missional lens including family, work, and community,
  2. Local outreach of ministries that we touch (Riding for Christ Ministries, FCA, Hope Community),
  3. Opportunities to reach unreached people groups with the Gospel,
  4. Missionaries that we support: Kathy Davis (World Orphans), Kate Borders (World Orphans), Whitmires (Spain), Ozanne (Poland), and
  5. Fountain of Hope Partnership (Bishop Julius & family, workers, all 24 children) (Col. 1:28, Eph. 4:11-16).

Remember to bring a batch of your favorite cookies, a copy (or copies) of the recipe, and a container to bring home a variety of treats!

Please also bring any note cards that you may have around the house, so that we can write encouraging notes to other ladies in the church.

Mike Wilkerson is the author of Redemption, a Resurgence book about being freed by Jesus from the idols we worship and the wounds we carry. He also teaches alongside the book for Redemption Groups, and this video is a taken from one of his sessions. In it, he explores the Israelites’ crossing of the Red Sea and how that prefigures Christ’s victory over sin and all of its effects—including shame.
